About Me

For as long as I can remember I’ve loved sports. As a child I played every sport I had access to and most of my childhood memories involved sports. Aside from playing sports, I also loved the things surrounding them. I remember playing basketball with a cousin of mine and providing play-by-play commentary for every shot, dribble, steal and foul. I did this for nearly every unorganized sport for as long as I can remember. Needless to say, I became a bit of an annoyance for my cousin and my parents, in that regard.

Fast forward to today. I’m still in love with sports and the things surrounding them. I’ve become fascinated with the intricacies of sports, how impactful sports can be on people and how impactful sports can be on communities. As a former college player, I’m knowledgeable about the game of football. I also consider myself a basketball junkie, baseball fan (Go Red Sox!) and soccer nut.

I’m currently a Hastings College senior, double majoring in journalism and communication studies.  I’ve written for the Collegian (Hastings College student-led newspaper), HCMediaOnline (Hastings College student-led news organization), MyNAIATourney (NAIA D-II Women’s National Basketball Tournament website) and the Hastings Tribune. I already have a bit of journalism experience in the real world, but I’m eager to learn and do more.

Ultimately, my  goal is to write for a major newspaper or online news organization. I would love to start as a beat writer and eventually earn the right to become a columnist. Until then, I plan on fulfilling all the necessary journalism duties at Hastings College, as well as the Hastings Tribune, to improve and someday make that goal a reality.
